The Arcel Konnect app

Arcel Konnect brings industry intelligence to people who plan, design, build and run the built environment. Its news module, Media, is a daily feed of stories found in publishers' news, reviewed by an editor, and shortened to a headline and a summary of about 60 words, with a link to the publisher's original article.

You can try the app now in your browser: swipe through the welcome, then choose Continue as a guest to browse without an account.

What readers get

  • Home: the day's stories as full-screen cards, newest and most important first, each with its summary, its image and source, likes, comments, sharing and saving, and today's quote when the editors have curated one.
  • Comments: a conversation under each story, with replies and mentions; readers edit or delete their own comments and report others. Editors moderate them on the Editorial desk.
  • Profiles and follows: a reader's public profile (private until they choose otherwise), with their pillar, profession and public collections, and readers they follow.
  • Collections: saved stories, kept private or shared with a public link.
  • Search: stories by word or topic, with the reader's recent searches.
  • Discover: events with dates, places and filters, videos, podcasts and research papers beside the news. Readers save and share every item, like and comment on videos and podcasts, and see how many readers opened a paper; a paper's detail has its authors, a "Paper summary" (an AI-assisted summary of the abstract, labelled as such, where the licence allows), "Why it matters?" and a link to the full paper at its publisher.
  • Collection: everything a reader saved, liked and commented on, stories and Discover alike, by kind, private to them.
  • Notifications: the daily briefing, breaking updates, replies, new followers and activity from people a reader follows, with Notification preferences and quiet hours.
  • Settings: the email address, appearance (Arcel, Light, Dark or the system's), language, likes, saves and comments, and privacy and security.
  • Send feedback: from the menu, Settings and Discover, a reader or guest tells the team what works and what does not, with a topic, a type, a text and up to five images; the draft stays on the device until it is sent.

Signing in

Anyone can browse as a guest. To comment, follow, save and keep preferences across devices, a reader signs in with a one-time code sent to their email address, or with Google, Apple or LinkedIn. A guest's saves and preferences move to the account when the guest signs in.

Your data and your account. A signed-in reader can download everything ARCEL holds about them as a JSON file (exportAccountData) and delete the account at any time (deleteAccount): sessions end at once; saves, likes and research reads are deleted; comments on stories, videos and podcasts stay without their text or author so replies keep their place; feedback the reader sent is kept, no longer linked to them, until it is deleted after a year.

Where the stories come from

Stories start as articles from publishers whose terms allow it: the platform reads their news feeds and, where a licence allows, the article pages, removes duplicates, and proposes each new story to the editorial team. Editors review, edit and approve every story on the Editorial desk before readers see it. Readers always get a link to the publisher's original article.

For developers

The app is built on the Daily Dose API (the API keeps its name and its /v1/dailydose paths): every screen above calls its operations, grouped in the reference by area (sign-in, comments, profiles and follows, collections, search, Discover, notifications, settings and feedback, quotes), and the reference lets you send them from your browser (sign in with the reference's Sign in button to try the protected ones).

Building your own screens for Discover's videos and podcasts, the reader's collection, research papers or feedback? Videos, podcasts and research for app developers says which fields to use and the rules to follow (YouTube's player, curated items' empty fields, the actions each kind offers).
